Just a doughy kind of day

26 Jan

Because it’s cold out…
Because it’s pouring rain out…
Because my boy boy is feeling sick…
Because it’s just one of those days…

We made Play Dough!
My aunt sent me this awesome recipe to make our own home-made play dough.

Aunties Play Dough

1 cup flour
¼ cup salt
1 cup cold water
2 Tblsp. Cream of tartar
1 Tblsp. Vegetable oil
food coloring
Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in a medium pot.
Mix in water, oil and food coloring.

Heat on stove over low to medium heat and stir until it looks like mashed potatoes (3-5 minutes).
Knead on a floured surface. Store in airtight container.

Nathan decided to use Green and Black. We had planned to make more colors but we ran out of Cream of Tartar. I didn’t realize the small container of Cream of Tartar would only give us two sets of play dough. This is a super easy recipe and Nathan had a blast, kept him entertained for a few hours.

He even made this truck that he wants to keep forever and ever!!

I just love my boys!

Toby wants to know how did Nathan design that? I guess we will be making play dough tomorrow! He is excited thanks for the idea. We love you all.

Nathan says, “I used green and black, and I rolled the green play dough to make a seat and rolled tires. And I rolled black to make the sides of the truck, to make the bottom, the front and the top and the door-you just smush it on there.”

He had a blast making the play dough. Make sure you have lots of cream of tartar!
      Love you guys
